Time Out & A Tee-Hee!

24 Sep

I just wanted to let everyone who comes by my blog to see what’s happening at Idaho Fishing Notebook know that I have been busier than an Idaho tater in a frying pan over the past week or so.

My wife, Diane and I, just completed our move to a brand new apartment building across town. Everybody loves moving right? Well, we have declared that this might be the last move our “senior” bodies can take. Very happy with the new place though and finally getting back in sync with some sort of general routine. I spent this morning frantically catching up on what my BlogBuddies have been doing over the past week or so. (I really am afraid I am going to miss something!) The blogging world awaits me! Anyway, the move went smoothly and I am back online now and ready to fight off the stress of everyday life by sharing a little humor with you.

I would like you to meet my (6) year old granddaughter, Jozee. (Better known by her nickname, The Bird)

This is “The Bird” modeling a good looking straw hat while we were visiting West Yellowstone, Montana, on a summer trip. Now “The Bird” and Grampaw (That’s me) have a special relationship. Though, not unlike any other grandfather and granddaughter.

Well, you see during the week of our big move, “The Bird” informs me that she wants me to go to school with her (First Grade) so she could show me off on Show & Tell day. Oh, alright! Somehow Grampaw will fit that into his hectic efforts hauling things from the U-haul up the stairs into our new apartment.

That was supposed to occur this morning. However, last night I called “The Bird” to talk with her on the phone to say hello. Well, direct from the mouth of a (6) year old cute little blonde comes the following statement:

“Grampaw, my teacho’ said I couldn’t bring you to school fo’ Show & Tell day”. I asked her ” Why not”? She responded:
“Grampaw, she says I can’t bring you cause you don’t fit into a cawdbode box”.

Wife and I laughed until we almost cried. Love ya’ Bird!

If college has taught me one thing, it is that I hate moving. College life means I have to move everything I own two times a year. I'm going to be very happy when I graduate and have a more permanent place of residence. It is great you enjoy your new place, though. Sometimes the move is definitely worth it.

What's the saying? "Kids say the darndest things?" Very funny stuff. My daughter is just short of 4 years old, I could almost hear her saying the exact same thing!Good luck on the new apt. Glad to hear the move was successful.

Hey Mel. glad you're all moved. I hate moving too, just like all the rest of the gang. Good to have you back online. You're one of our anchors in the blog community. Now that you don't have grass to mow, or home repairs to make, get out there and do some fishing. Mark

Paul – Yea, I agree the move was definitely worth it. Give it a few weeks and we will feel all settled. But, oh those aching bones.

Troutrageous – First of all, I received the Fish Counter right before the move. Thanks again! No reason not to fish now. Secondly, kids do say the darndest things, while they spread their light on each day. Gotta' love 'em.

Shoreman – Thanks for the kind words. You would think those Trout in my area would be in trouble now! Hoping for a good fall season since I may have some more time.

CDGardens – Thanks for enjoying "The Bird" and the cawdbode box! I agree that the teacher doesn't have much of an imagination. Geez, I even had some man size boxes we could have used following our move. I would have enjoyed being delivered to the classroom that way!

Kids say the darnedest things. I still have my sense of humor. When that goes I go. Small fish can be fun but I hate losing lead and hooks and I seem to do a lot of that when I bait fish. Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure.Tight line and quick moves

She is a little cutie your "Little Bird"….that was cute about the cardboard box…and you being busier as an idaho tater in a frying pan…that's funny! I know about moving…my family and I just moved my brother out of his apartment last week because of his sickness and he want be able to live by himself anymore. We just had to throw everything in a climate control storage…man, I would hate to have to move at our age again. You and your wife enjoy you new apartment and glad you have gotten back online. Take care. 🙂

Marian – Thanks for your kind words about "The Bird" and glad that you got a laugh out of my attempt at humor. "The Bird" can't believe all the attention she is getting from this post. She appreciates being told how cute she is.
